Who we are

Vraibook sells public-domain classics in print and digital editions at vraibook.com. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

What we collect

When you place an order. Your name, email address, billing address, and — for print orders — your shipping address and phone number if you provide one. We keep a record of what you bought, when, and for how much.

When you pay. Card payments are processed by Stripe. Your full card number never reaches our servers and we cannot see it. We receive a confirmation, the card brand, and the last four digits.

When you create an account. Your email address, a hashed password, your order history, and your download library.

When you download a book. Which file, and when — so we can honour your right to re-download, and so we can spot abuse.

When you contact us. Whatever you write, plus your name and email address.

Automatically, when you browse. Your IP address, browser and device type, referring page, and the pages you visit. We use Google Analytics for this. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects usage data on our behalf; we have not enabled its advertising or remarketing features, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles. You can opt out entirely with Google’s browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

We do not use session recording, heatmaps, or any tool that replays what you do on a page.

Why we collect it

To take your order and get your books to you. To give you access to your downloads. To answer your emails. To prevent fraud and stop people abusing download links. To keep the accounting records the IRS requires. And to understand which parts of the site are broken or confusing, so we can fix them.

That is the complete list. We do not use your information for anything else.

What we do not do

We do not sell your personal information. We never have and we have no plans to.

We do not share it for advertising. We do not run retargeting, we do not pass customer lists to ad platforms, and we do not participate in cross-context behavioural advertising.

We do not email you unless you asked us to, apart from messages about an order you actually placed.

Who we share it with

• Stripe — to process your payment.
• Google Analytics — as described above.
• Our email provider — to send order confirmations and, if you opted in, occasional newsletters.
• Our hosting provider — our site and database run on their infrastructure.
• Shipping carriers — for print orders, your name and address go to USPS or the carrier handling your parcel.
• Law enforcement or regulators, where we are legally required to comply.

We print and ship our own books, so your address does not pass through a third-party fulfilment company.

How long we keep it

• Order and invoice records: 7 years, for tax purposes.
• Account and download library: until you close your account.
• Support emails: 2 years.
• Analytics data: 14 months, Google Analytics’ standard retention setting.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

• tell you what personal information we hold about you;
• give you a copy of it;
• correct anything that is wrong;
• delete it, except where tax law requires us to keep an order record;
• stop sending you marketing email.

If you live in California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, or another state with a consumer privacy law, those laws give you these rights explicitly, plus the right not to be treated differently for exercising them. We extend the same rights to everyone regardless of where they live, because maintaining two standards is more trouble than it is worth.

Email hello@vraibook.com and we will respond within 45 days. We will not charge you for it. If we need to verify who you are first, we will ask you to confirm details from an order you placed.

If you think we have handled your information badly, you can complain to your state Attorney General or to the Federal Trade Commission at reportfraud.ftc.gov. We would rather you told us first.

Cookies

We use cookies that are strictly necessary — keeping you signed in, remembering your basket, processing checkout — and analytics cookies set by Google Analytics. You can block cookies in your browser settings, but blocking necessary cookies will break checkout.

Children

Vraibook is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

Changes

We will post changes here and update the date at the top. If a change materially affects your rights, we will email account holders.
