1. About these terms
These terms govern your use of vraibook.com and anything you buy from us. Placing an order means you accept them.
2. What we sell, and what you are paying for
Every text we sell is in the public domain. The copyright has expired and the words belong to everyone. We do not own them and we do not claim to.
What you pay for is the edition: the typesetting, the printing and binding, the cover, the files, the hosting, the shipping, and the service around all of it. You are never paying us for permission to read Melville or Austen. Those texts are freely available elsewhere, including from Project Gutenberg, and we will always say so.
Our texts are faithful, unabridged reproductions of public-domain editions. Each product page names its source edition so you can check it yourself.
3. Your account
You are responsible for your password and for what happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access. We may suspend an account we reasonably believe is being used fraudulently or to abuse download access.
4. Orders and prices
An order is an offer to buy. A contract forms when we send your order confirmation.
Prices are in US dollars. Sales tax is calculated at checkout where we are required to collect it, based on your shipping address. Shipping costs are shown before you pay.
We try hard to price correctly. If an obvious error appears — a hardcover listed at $2 instead of $22 — we may cancel the order and refund you in full rather than fulfil it. We will tell you if that happens.
We may refuse or cancel any order, including where an item is out of stock, where we suspect fraud, or where we cannot ship to your address.
5. Digital editions
When you buy a digital edition you get a personal, non-exclusive right to download, keep and read the files we supply, on any device you own, for as long as you like. There is no DRM and the files do not expire. You can re-download them from your account at any time.
You may not resell, redistribute or republish our files — the specific editions, formatting and covers we produce — and you may not scrape or bulk-download our catalogue.
To be clear about the limit of that restriction: it covers our files, not the underlying works. The public-domain texts themselves are free for anyone to obtain and use from any source, and nothing here restricts that.
Where a download is delivered from a third party’s servers, we cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability. If a link fails, email us and we will get you a working copy.
6. Print editions
We print, pack and ship our own books. Delivery is covered by our Shipping Policy and returns by our Returns Policy, both of which form part of these terms.
7. Acceptable use
Do not attempt to breach the site’s security, use automated tools to scrape or bulk-download, interfere with other people’s access, or use the site for anything unlawful.
8. Intellectual property
The Vraibook name, logo, site design, product photography, category copy and editorial writing are ours and may not be reproduced without permission. The literary texts are public domain and are not ours.
9. Disclaimers
The site is provided “as is”. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from any order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages.
Nothing here limits liability for fraud, for personal injury caused by our negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of >> STATE FROM YOUR ADDRESS <<, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located there.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. The version that applies to your order is the one published when you placed it.
